Weekly Photo Prompt: Steel

Ripsaw teeth

Cross cut teeth

Cut clasp nail, tungsten carbide tipped and galvanized

Gleaming in the air, honed and filed

Beauty in industry

Poetry forged in the shadow of empty mills

City of steel and sharply angled hills

Where every blade is work of art

And every wall, a canvas.

This piece was written for my weekly photo prompt.  Every Monday I try to challenge myself by choosing a photo as a starting point for a piece of creative writing.  This might be a 100-word story, a poem, haiku, limerick or longer piece – I’m not setting any rules apart from com13903223_1266927486675323_6987109548735276131_nmitting to a regular writing challenge to exercise my brain.  If you like the image I’ve shared, please feel free to use it as a prompt for your own work, give me a pingback and I promise to read and give my feedback.

This week’s image is a photo of a display by Cornelia Parker in the Made in Sheffield Exhibition, Sheffield Millennium Gallery.
