Helen’s prompt for Song Lyric Sunday this week was to share a song which you associate with happy memories. So here’s the Bluebells singing Young at Heart on Top of the Pops in 1993.
Listen to this, and picture me and my best friend, twenty years old, first to arrive at the night club, already drunk on Mad Dog 20/20, all Doc Martens and lipstick, spinning together round an empty dance floor. Just girls on a night out, like those kids at Ariana Grande’s concert, and everyone relaxing after a long week in London last night.
Everybody should make it home safe after a night out.
I saw the first reports about the terrorist attacks at London Bridge just as I was going to bed last night, and was dreading finding out how it had unfolded when I woke up this morning. What sad, horrible, mixed up minds must these people have? How can you be so full of hate towards people you’ve never met, that you would attack strangers having a night out? I can’t get my head round it.
I guess all we can do is keep on dancing, keep on singing, show the bastards who want to divide us that love is stronger than hate.
What a great memory and a great song. What happened is so sad. It also boggles my mind how people can have so much hate. Thanks for sharing this. ❤️

Thanks Helen. I feel so bewildered by it all.
