Welcome to the twenty-first century gallery, or what we now call the Age of Unreason. You see the computer interface? We’ve recreated the social media channels of the era. They’re interactive, so give them a try. You’ll soon see the casual animosity which was prevalent.
And over here we have the mid-century. The weaponry is sophisticated but observe the powerlessness of the targets. The masses had no idea who their real enemies were.
And this display – is how it ended. A logical conclusion, perhaps, which nobody saw coming. They were beyond saving. It’s better now we’ve taken control.

masses never know who the enemy is, how true.

Thanks Neil. I spend enough (too much) time on social media to see how common it is!

I have half a mind to complain to the words ombudsman/ombudswoman/ombudsperson about this utter drivel. A lot of commenters seem to have the other half!

We will look back and realise how many mistakes we’ve made. Hopefully we will still be around to do so!

Oooh this was very clever! A little satirical look into our current situation. “Casual animosity” was well-used and I laughed out loud at that!

Poor, pathetic, pitiful people. And of course, one wonders who the “we” are who have taken over.

I left that deliberately vague (or, I don’t know either!) – computers, aliens or just some power crazed political faction, probably the scariest option of all.

We’re indeed in the Age of Unreason. I suspect the ones who’ve taken over are the computers who finally overthrew their creators. Excellent, thought provoking take!

They might actually do a better job than their human creators!

Great little story – and one that could be expanded into something longer. The Age of Unreason – indeed!
