Welcome to my weekly photo prompt! Every Monday I will share a photo that I like, and taking it as a starting point, I’ll endeavour to come up with a piece of creative writing. This might be a 100 word story, a poem, haiku, limerick or long piece – I’m not setting any rules apart from committing to a regular writing challenge to exercise my brain. If you like the image I’ve shared, please feel free to use it as a prompt for your own work, give me a pingback and I promise to read and give my feedback.
The photos I use will be either my own or taken by my snap happy husband, so you have our permission to use them for the purpose of this writing prompt. If they aren’t our own photos, I will only use them with permission and credit them to their source.
So without further ado, here’s this week’s photo:
And here’s my take on it, and – by the by – my first ever attempt at a haiku:
Broken wings, cobweb-
laced. Do you dream of children
who left you behind?
Let me know what you think in the comments, and if you’d like to share your own piece of writing in response to this photo prompt, I’d be thrilled to read it!
Nice 🙂

And how can I respond but with my first ever attempt at haiku:
Angel left forlorn.
What thoughts she thinks alone?
I cry for her pain!

Very nice! I think the forlorn/alone line endings, while not exactly rhyming, blend together very well. She’s actually an abandoned birthday cake decoration which has been sat on our garden wall for several years, looking very neglected but at the same time I don’t want to move her as she feels like a little monument to our family history!

Wow, beautiful photo and an amazing Haiku to go with it!
Here’s my take on it:
She was called an angel
And admired by one and all
The pain; no one saw!

Thanks Rashmi! This makes me think about how shallow we are judging by appearance and not really knowing what other people are feeling or maybe even suffering. Thanks for taking part! X

Absolutely, we don’t really know or can never really tell what’s going on in a person’s mind/life just by looking at them!
It was my pleasure to take part 🙂

What a wonderful photo prompt! Good job on the haiku; it’s amazing for a first attempt.
