Welcome to Thursday Friday morning and the opening of the vote to decide the winner of the Six Word Story Challenge!
This week’s prompt was Train. And I’m finally home, with a long awaited cup of tea, after spending all evening on the newly rebranded LNER line between London Kings Cross and Leeds. New name, same overcrowding and extortionate prices. Plus ça change and all that.
But, oh my goodness you guys! How many stories have we come up with us between us this week? We’ve had Brief Encounter style thwarted romance, disaster, terrorism and childhood dreams – I’ve really enjoyed reading them, and a very warm welcome to everyone playing along for the first time.
So now it’s time to vote: Which of the stories below should win the grand prize?*
if you’ve never voted before, don’t forget you can vote for your top THREE stories – just tick three boxes before you submit!
Because I’ve been a bit late posting the poll, I’ll keep it open until Saturday morning and announce the winner before the next prompt goes up on Wonderwall’s site.
Roll of honour
*There is no prize except one of Nicola’s glorious badges!
There are sssooo many great entries this week!

There certainly are! I really wasn’t sure it was a good prompt, but I guess we all love a train!

My turn later to attempt to get a train to Leeds. Hopefully be easier than Kirsty’s journey to Leeds yesterday as I want to return to Sheffield within a few hours. This week’s prompt was TRAIN. It inspired some fantastic short stories. I struggled to get my story into 6 words. I’m releasing a prompt on Saturday which is a really good prompt for a story BUT it will be hard to get a story into 6 words (sorry).
Vote now for your 3 favourite TRAIN short stories by taking the poll in Kirsty’s post below.
My story is:
